The Shakespeare Hoax

Why does each avenue into the historical and biographical study of the Stratford man traditionally identified as “Shake-speare” lead us to an oddity or a dead end or an enigma? An image-rich look at why the Shakespeare authorship question exists in the first place will progress into a sampling of some of the controversial attempted solutions to the problem.

Ultimately, why does this matter? Because it concerns the creative process itself. In addition to expanding our appreciation of Shakespeare’s work, understanding this process – in Shakespeare, all artists, and ourselves – provides a model for identifying where art really comes from: the struggles and experiences of the human body, mind and soul.
